"Last morning..." is how my eldest, Elise, described anything in the past. Now, she's starting kindergarten and has no use for this phrase! I want to remember this, along with all of our stories, so I'm putting it here on Last Morning's Adventures. I hope you can either relate or get a laugh. :)

Mother's Morning Out

Mother's Morning Out: well, not in the sense that I got to leave my kids behind, but rather in the sense that I tried to get out of the house with two kids by myself...I've seen other mothers do this with ease, but I'm still not sure I completely understand how it's done. Friday I had the task of getting Elise to her dance class pictures at 3:30, and here is what my day consisted of:

  • feed Evie
  • change diaper
  • feed Evie
  • change diaper
  • feed Evie
  • change diaper
  • pick Elise up from school
  • eat lunch
  • buy glue for Elise's costume's headband
  • curl Elise's hair
  • put Elise's hair in ponytail
  • put make-up on Elise
  • wonder if putting make-up on a 3-year-old is such a good idea...
  • put costume on Elise
  • drive to dance pictures
Can anyone tell me why this is so hard???

When we got home, I tried an even more difficult feat: a shower. I handed Elise a washcloth, told her to wash off her face, and plopped Evie in her bouncie seat next to the shower, then started scrubbing as quickly as possible.

That's when one of those precious moments made time stand still. Elise called me, and I peeked around the curtain to see her grinning under her wash cloth. "Look, Mommy. I'm Elise again." Jeez, that made the stressful day seem insignificant.

Blog Inspiration

This morning I attended a talk by my favorite photographer, Erin Cobb (http://erincobb.com/). She informed us that you can make a photo book out of your blog on http://www.blurb.com/. Well...I love photo books, so I thought I'd give the blog thing a try. Plus, I've been looking for a way to chronicle our family's little moments, and Erin inspired me to give blogging a shot. She also said it was okay if I have all pictures and not a lot of words, so there! ;)

On that note, here are some of my favorite pics that Erin has taken of our family over the last two years. Thanks, Erin!!
